This question truly amuses me. Who can say exactly what makes a goddess?? Is there a code of conduct I have yet to read?

If you google goddess a lot comes up, but I’ve noted a few titles that have really got me thinking…
– 5 signs you’re a Goddess
– Ways of a Goddess
– How to know you’re a Goddess
– Want to be a Goddess?

What inspires me and brings out the best in me may not be what makes another woman shine. My talents and potential will certainly never be found in the same box as yours and vice versa.

And here lies the answer to this ridiculous question. What makes a goddess?? You do!

The best and sincerest version of who you are is what a goddess is made of: your grace, your beauty and your power is exactly that … yours!

So many of us meet other women and quietly wish, “could some of what she has rub off on me?” But let me ask you this, where would your authenticity be if that were possible?

Appreciating what we admire in others is very different to mimicking what we admire.

I may admire the way a woman rocks a ripped pair of jeans and a $5 tee with beauty and charisma, or the way another manages to be covered in tattoos yet continues to hold a soft and feminine presence. Oh, and that women over there whose aura is turning heads as she strolls down the street… look at her! How does she do that?

And just like that, I realise there are not only women out there whom I admire, there are those in turn who admire the uniqueness that is me. If I stay true to myself and my personal values, style and soul, then that “rub off on me” wish would become completely void. I already have all I need to stir up my own goddess recipe and bake the hell out of it!

Allowing your goddess to surface does not mean that you must become someone else or even that you need to change anything. You are ALREADY her and EVERYTHING she was born to be.

Once you be truer then true to who it is you are inside and out (and that isn’t an easy task to master), the goddess in you will shine and second-guess nothing.

We have this fabulous thing called hormones, and down days… days that I like to call “paper bag days,” when all I want is to put a paper bag over my head, not be seen or heard and sit in my little nook of the world. Would you believe that this is all part of the process? That these “paper bag days” are just another way of honouring the authentic self? Take them, let your mascara run if it needs too, have a date with a jar of Nutella and a tablespoon in front of the telly, have that extra cup of coffee you swore you were going to cut down on.

Honour your moments, be present and kind to yourself in good times and in the bad.

Knowing who you are with all your sharp and soft edges is what makes you unique, beautiful, empowered and confident.

Ordain yourself your own Goddess once you have figured out these simple truths:

Truth 1 – loving every aspect of yourself and accepting yourself just as you are is your birth right

Truth 2 – The good, the bad and the ugly are all worth your time and nurture

Truth 3 – “No one is you and that is your power” (Dave Grohl)
